The Data Engineer is responsible for ensuring the collection, processing and accuracy of our primary data entities such as courts, judges, lawfirms, attorneys and companies. The successful candidate must be able to quickly familiarize themselves with LexisNexis’ diverse data resources and have the ability to leverage the latest in AWS technologies to collect, maintain, and optimize the data platform. The ideal candidate has built and maintained a large-scale data pipeline and data lakes utilizing the AWS cloud platform with relational and non-relational databases.

Responsibilities

  • Developing innovative strategies and processes for ingesting, managing, and fixing data in bulk

  • Managing and monitoring various data feeds through the system and handling issues as they arise

  • Writing queries, functions, and ETL jobs

  • Consulting on feature design, implementation, and relevant metrics like reliability, completeness, accuracy, and cost

  • Identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems with other areas of the LexisNexis Data Pipeline

  • Performing capacity monitoring and short and long-term capacity planning

  • Scheduling and coordinating database jobs, monitoring progress and completion of all jobs, and taking corrective action as needed

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience with AWS products

  • Showcase an extensive comprehension of AWS products gained through extensive practical experience

  • Be intimately familiar with RDS, ElasticSearch, Lambda, S3, EC2s

  • Have hands-on experience with AWS services such as API Gateway, Elastic MapReduce, ECS, Kinesis, Database Migration Services, Lambda

  • Hold AWS credentials (an advantage)

  • Be experienced in DevOps (Jenkins, Azure DevOps)

  • Be an expert Python programmer (Pandas, Boto3)

  • Be proficient with query languages (SQL, JSON Parsing, OpenSearch/ElasticSearch)

  • Have the ability to provide guidance to data scientists, engineers, and other team members
